Christoph Schlapbach, MD, PhD, is an academic dermatologist and immunologist at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, Switzerland, where he serves as Associate Professor and holds a senior leadership role within the Department of Dermatology. An alumnus of the ESDR Future Leaders Academy, he combines clinical excellence with translational research focused on immune mechanisms driving inflammatory skin diseases and cutaneous lymphoma. A major contribution of his work was the identification and characterization of IL-9-producing Th2 cells as a key subpopulation contributing to allergic inflammation, linking cellular metabolism regulators like PPAR-γ to disease mechanisms. He leads the department’s basic and translational research program and has contributed to international collaborations, mentoring, and scientific leadership in dermatology. His career reflects the FLA mission of bridging science, medicine, and leadership to shape the future of academic dermatology.
