The Skin SCIENCE Foundation, founded in 2019 by the European Society of Dermatological Research (ESDR), is at the forefront of dermatological research, driving innovation to create next-generation healthcare. Our mission is to develop personalised treatments for skin diseases and implement predictive and preventive strategies to maintain lifelong skin health.
Using cutting-edge technologies, big data science and systems medicine, we integrate insights from skin morphology, omics measurements, nutrition, lifestyle, and overall well-being. This holistic approach will revolutionise dermatology, making skincare more precise, proactive, and personalised.
Our Four Key Programs
- The Biohub Program : an open-source platform designed to help skin scientists explore omics data on multiple skin diseases. By providing easy access to curated skin omics data, this initiative accelerates big data research and scientific discovery in dermatology.
- The Precision Medicine Initiative: a global network dedicated to mapping the molecular characteristics of skin diseases. This initiative aims to bring precision medicine into clinical practice for more accurate diagnosis and effective treatments.
- The P4 Program : focused on designing clinical trials to identify biomarkers for disease prediction and prevention, using systems medicine approaches.
- The Training Program : fellowship grants for physician-scientists to gain expertise in big data technologies, empowering the next generation of dermatology innovators.
Through these initiatives, the Skin SCIENCE Foundation is shaping the future of dermatology, bridging research and clinical practice to improve skin health worldwide.
