The Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) and the ESDR have formally launched a new open access journal entitled JID Innovations. The new journal should be seen as a companion to the JID, not a competitor. Russel Hall, newly appointed JID Innovations Editor, explains the broad scope of the new journal in a recent JID editorial here. Subtitled “Skin science from molecules to population health”  JID Innovations will adhere to the rigid peer review principles of the JID while facilitating rapid and open access to accepted content.
