2017 FELLOWS SELECTED FOR THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM FOR WOMEN IN DERMATOLOGIC RESEARCH

For 2017, the Fellowship Program’s second year, two outstanding candidates, one representing the US and one representing Europe, were selected to receive a stipend to support travel, lodging, registration, and poster presentation(s) at the Annual Meetings of the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) and the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR). Fellows will be charged with informing themselves about scientific advances, particularly those presented by female investigators, and with sharing their learning with others online via the Journal of Investigative Dermatology (JID), JID Connector, and the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology. (See, for example, the article by the 2016 European Fellow Boussemart L. Woman, mother and scientist: Aiming at a fulfilling career in research while maintaining a “good-enough work-life balance” Internal J Women’s Dermatologic 2: 74-76, 2016.) Fellows will be introduced to the SID and ESDR leadership and to research interest-appropriate mentors at each meeting and with their assistance will be expected to serve as a source of introductions and advice to other early career women.

Congratulations to the 2017 Fellowship awardees.
