Isabelle Hoorens, MD, PhD, is a Belgian dermato-oncologist and tenure-track professor at Ghent University Hospital, where she is actively involved in the specialist training of dermatology residents within the Department of Dermatology. She holds a senior postdoctoral mandate from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) and leads clinical and translational research focusing on (keratinocyte) skin cancer, quality-of-life outcomes, cost-effectiveness of care pathways, and innovative diagnostic approaches, including confocal microscopy and artificial intelligence–assisted imaging. She was recently awarded with the DermImpact Award. Her participation in the ESDR Future Leaders Academy in 2019 strengthened her commitment to an academic career at the intersection of clinical practice, research, and collaborative leadership. It has led to her role as President-Elect of the European Society of Skin Cancer Prevention (Euroskin) and her active involvement in international working groups on skin cancer research and prevention.
