Su Lwin, MRCP PhD BSc (Hons), is an academic dermatologist and Senior Research Fellow at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, King’s College London, UK. Su’s work cross-pollinates cell, gene, and repurposed therapeutics between rare (epidermolysis bullosa; EB) and common (psoriasis) diseases to advance disease-agnostic treatments. She led the first fibroblast gene therapy trial and pre-clinical spray-on gene therapy for EB; and keratinocyte gene therapy trial for Netherton syndrome. Su also defined key regenerative and immunomodulatory effects of mesenchymal stromal cell therapy in EB and psoriasis, highlighting the importance of early intervention. She now spearheads ART-EB, the largest EB drug-repurposing programme aligning biologics with EB immune profiles, and advances cell-based strategies to drive immune retuning and reset in psoriasis. Aligned with ESDR’s mission, Su is committed to propelling pioneering translational therapeutic programmes combined with discovery science to accelerate patient impact.
