Statement from ESDR President about Impact of COVID-19

Mar 24, 2020 | news

Dear Colleagues
I am writing to all of you in this unprecedented time of uncertainty in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a fast evolving situation and paramount is the health and safety of you, your families and colleagues. In Europe and across the world most universities have closed and are going into lockdown. Research and teaching has slowed or stopped in many countries and clinical academics will be making contingency plans for patient management whether in dermatology or by stepping into frontline acute care. Major medical and scientific congresses around the world planned for the first half of the year have either been postponed or cancelled.

As you are aware our 50th Anniversary meeting is scheduled for Amsterdam 2-5 September 2020. The ESDR Board is of course monitoring the COVID-19 situation and allied government directives very closely but at present the meeting is still going ahead as planned. We are cognisant that this status may change. On that basis we are preparing contingency plans and compiling frequently asked questions and will update you at regular intervals over the coming weeks.

Please stay well,

Prof Chris Griffiths
ESDR President
