About the Masterclass
The ESDR is launching an innovative new educational event in 2018, taking place in Budapest at the conclusion of the ESDR Academy for Future Leaders in Dermatology on 5 October 2018. The Masterclass sessions will focus on big data, scientific wellness and lifestyle coaching in relation to therapeutic areas of skin healthcare. This event will be open to basic/clinical scientists, healthcare professionals and industry representatives.
The program and networking events will provide ample opportunity for interaction and discussion.

Cleo received a PhD in Biological Sciences in 2001 from University College London. She then spent four years as a Career Development Fellow in the laboratory of Prof. Chris Higgins at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre, Imperial College London, where she developed a keen interest in cancer biology. In 2006, she moved to the Blizard Institute to pursue this, and spent four years in lab. of Prof. David Beach (FRS). During this time, she established our High-Throughput Phenotypic Screening facility, and has used this technology to discover novel regulators of the ageing biomarker p16. She is currently a Senior Lecturer and Director of Graduate Studies at the Blizard Institute and continues her research into the regulation of the p16 and its role in senescence, ageing and cancer.

Rémy Choquet PhD

Dr Rémy Choquet, is an e-health expert for data driven large scale projects. He has an excellent knowledge of local, national and european e-health issues. He is associated with the biggest e-health research lab in France which collaborates within many national or european H2020 projects. He has a PhD in Public Health : Epidemiology and Medical data science from the Pierre and Marie Curie University (P6).
He is an expert in medical data science, AI, semantics, data quality and interoperability in healthcare generated data reuse for public health and research (epidemiology and surveillance systems). His main interests are: e-health strategy thinking, artificial intelligence, innovation, health information systems, data science, medical informatics, health informatics, clinical research informatics, ontologies, data quality, data integration, semantic interoperability, public health, rare diseases, health IT strategy, management, data privacy.

Chris Griffiths qualified in Medicine from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London. He trained in Dermatology at St Mary’s Hospital, London, and at the University of Michigan, USA. He was appointed to the Foundation Chair in Dermatology at the University of Manchester in 1994 and is an honorary consultant dermatologist at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. At the University of Manchester he has held several senior posts including Faculty Research Dean and Director of the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre. He currently leads for precision medicine for Greater Manchester.Chris received the Sir Archibald Gray Medal for outstanding service to British Dermatology in 2015. He is a National Institute for Health Research Senior Investigator and Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. Chris was awarded an OBE, for services to dermatology, in the Queen’s 2018 New Year’s Honours.
Chris is a past-President of the BAD, EDF, BSID, IPC and is Secretary-Treasurer of the ESDR. He has published 606 Pubmed cited articles (h-index 110), and is Editor-in-Chief of Rook’s Textbook of Dermatology. Chris has long-standing research interests in all aspects of psoriasis.
Vassili Soumelis MD, PhD

Vassili Soumelis is a staff physician and team leader in basic and clinical immunology, in the Department of immunology, Institut Curie. He made important contributions to the fields of disease physiopathology, including HIV infection and allergy. In the past years, his focus shifted to cancer and the systematic large-scale analysis of the primary tumor microenvironment. The team of V. Soumelis is dedicated to human immunology, and the physiopathology of chronic inflammation, such as allergy, auto-immunity and cancer. Its work is highly interdisciplinary, combining clinical investigation studies, basic and applied immunology, bioinformatics and system biology. Vassili Soumelis coordinated a European FP6 excellence grant (2005-2009), participated in a EuroTransbio project (2007-2009), coordinated bioinformatics and systems biology in a European consortium (FP7), and received an ERC grant in 2012.
